Hi, Kristy if you are reading this, I will tell you a funny story along
time ago, like everyteenager back in the 70's i had every picture that
was took of you from teenbeat to people to the star, anything with you
in it I bought it an put it in a photo book I made & it was big, anyway
at that time I was around 10 years old now I am 37 and I was in my roon
saying tomyself how can I talk to her, and in one of my pictures you were
with don corey taking you to the grammys & I knew you lived at that
time in tarzan so I picked up the phone & ask for corol corey &
you brother answered I think it was jimmy & said how did you get our
phone number at 10 years old I just hung up but never forgot that momment
of finding my buddy, & the next day the number was gone lol but how
I was in love with that cute little girl 27 years ago!

You had a Dad tha was a doctor and a nurse and a dog. The nurse name was

she is on German TV can either read there. (I am awfully sorry I wrote

I have always loved Kristy because she looks a lot like my favorite cousin.
I just recently got the album she did with her brother off ebay, and it's
really cool. "Little Darlings" is my all-time favorite of hers,
along with "The Pirate Movie" I have that record and book, too.

I have always been a fan of kristy McNichols growing up. I liked her in
empty nest. I read in your web page that she suffers from bipolar illness.
I was just diagnoised with the disease this year. I lost custody of my
son once I was hospitalized. My sympathies goes out to her and I admire

Oh, man, such cool pictures of Kristy! Thanks so much for putting them
on the web. Up until I found this website, all I could find was really
tacky websites that barely had anything about her, anyway.
Hey, and I was just about to ask what song is playing. But, you smarty,
you - you already mentioned it.
I have met Kristy a few times. That was so much fun. And I saw a comercial
late at night not ago that Kristy narrated, about the "Daybreak"
center, I think it's called, for mentally ill women. It's in Santa Monica,
near Los Angeles, and they were requesting money donations. I would like
to see if they are accepting clothes donations, as well. I want to help
out. And I want Kristy to know she didn't do that commercial for nothing.
I was so proud of her for doing that.

I remember growing up and having so many people say to me, "You look
like that girl on Family. You know, Kristy McNichol." That always
put a smile on my face, because I admired her as an actress and as a person.

I have to agree with the woman who wrote below; it feels odd to be writing
fan letter at 37, but here I am doing it.
I realize Kristy wont see these words, but I know many of you folks
around my age will, and how fortunate we all are to have had actresses
like Kristy to watch and relate to in our formative years. The 70s were
a chaotic time when viewed as an adult in hingsight, but as a kid/teen,
it was the best time of my life. What a colorful and happy era we got to
grow up in! It wasnt about gee-whiz special effects, or hardcore violence
and sex. The programming/mood in those days was about being happy, "Dyno-MITE"
and put that new 8-track in your cool T-top Pontiac Trans Am. And Kristy
helped lots of us deal with our own lives in her characters she portrayed.
Yep, Im sounding like an old fogie too, but so it goes, right?

Kristy,
At the ripe old age of 36 now it's odd to be "writing" to
you - but I always keep an eye out for things about you and your family
- not obsessively, just like, oh yeah - I always liked them. Being the
only child and a girl - well, I just would have loved to have had Jimmy
for an older brother and Tommy for a little brother. I can't say I modeled
myself on you b/c we all have our own personalities, of course - but you
seemed to be a good role model for the way I conducted myself as a teenager.
I think I naturally reacted similarly to you - well "Buddy" but
I understand that that was pretty much you - and I tried to behave in as
mature of a fashion as you did on "Family" - not always with
a lot of success. Isn't life so different now with 15 and 16 year-olds?
I am by no means a prude, but my God - they're all so grown-up. Okay, I'm
starting to sound like an old fogie!
I think it's interesting that you have an anxiety problem as I too have
been battling it for a number of years. Luckily I'm balanced out now (now
that I know what was going on all those years) - I think know- ing that
you struggled help me accept the fact that everybody needs a little help
now and then - just like if I had diabetes - it's no big deal with medication
nowdays. (Of course, there is always a bit of taboo about it all still
in some circles...)
Anyway - hope life is treating you well. I feel a little foolish since
I'm speaking with you as if I know you and I don't really know you from
Adam. Also feel a little foolish b/c, again, I'm 36 and writing a "fan
letter" - but I never did write one to you as a kid and just stumbled
across this site while I was trying to find out when A & E's Child
Stars special was going to be on again. The woman whom I live with and
I have a ninth-month old son - one of those "life- styles" that
the moral majority would certainly frown on, but actually we're pretty
boring and a tad nerdy I would say - because I hope that my son will enjoy
a program like "Family" for good lessons - and realize that the
world is not just black and white; good guys and bad guys.

Been told since she first appeared on the t.v. show family, that we could
have been twins. I never bragged about it too much as I never thought her
any raving beauty. we are almost exactly the same age and as time past
we I'm told continued to bear a stricking resemblence to each other. I
still didn't really appreciate the similarity till "Little Darlings"
then it seemed we had not only the same outward appearance but, we shared
the same personality as well, at least that's how all my friends saw it.
We have shared alot of the same problems and feelings at least according
to the things I have read about her. I have always felt a sort of bond
with her and when I saw how many people are interested in her enough to
look her up on the internet, it just blew me away. Well, we still share
the same looks, problems as well, except for bank statements I'm sure.

Yes, I do think you're great and all; however, that is not my reason for
this email. It has to do with info I learned by happening to catch a soundbite
on 'E' while flipping channels. I continued to watch and in doing so, learned
quite a bit about myself. In writing this email I will do my best to remain
brief...Although I am obviously not in the same industry as yourself, I
have experienced quite a bit if the same types of ???? Well, anyway what
I am getting at is that after watching I looked up 'Bi-Polar...and all
of the symptoms seems to describe what I was and am feeling; incredible
highs, success and then periods of incredible lows and feelings of worthlessness,
etc. In reading what I have found, the prescription seems to be Lithium.
There is something about taking that or any drug that, just does not appeal
to me. In reading the description of the effects of the drug, the one that
caught most of my attention was that of drowsiness; I am a very active
person and the idea of being drowsy all the time is nearly as bad as the
depression (O.K. maybe not that bad) but it does not appeal to me. Do you
know of any other? It seems as though my visits to the various Doctors
I have seen is an education to them. My intentions in writing this are
sincere. I am after nothing other than advice from someone who it seems
to have experienced or is experiencing similar symptoms as I. Someone whom
I also feel to be an intelligent and thoughtful individual; you don't even
have to reply yourself, I'm not after your email address or any personal
information on yourself, other than info that may help me deal with this.
